Away From It All is a project where members raise money to provide a much-needed break for families who need to get away but don’t have the means to do so and have not had a holiday for 4 years or more. Sheffield MU uses caravans on the east coast for holidays which are very well equipped and the sites have many amenities for the families to enjoy. the family is also provided with a hamper of food items to help them. We also offer donations of up to £200 for groups to use to take members on day outings.
AFIA works purely for the benefit of individuals and families within our Diocese and is funded only by Deanery and Branch fund raising events.
In 2025 Sheffield MU members have funded 10 Family holidays at Haven sites on the East Coast.
“I cannot articulate the benefit we have gained from this trip,” says Claire. “We were broken and felt repaired. Your kindness and generosity reminded us that we are not alone, but that we are blessed. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive and my faith has been truly tested but we are galvanised again.”
Raising funds for AFIA can help more families have the support they need to take a break, have adventures and make memories that will last a lifetime.
